How it worksHow it works

  • Users select a 15-player squad comprised of two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forwards within the allocated $100 million budget.

  • There are restrictions on how many players can be selected from the same nation that vary throughout the tournament, starting with three per team in the group stage.

  • An additional $5million budget will be applied for the knockout stage while player prices will not fluctuate throughout the tournament.

  • Unlimited changes can be made until the first match of the FIFA World Cup kicks off, on Thursday, 11 June.

  • During each Matchday, users can make bench substitutions and switch captains to maximise their ability to score points.

  • Five boosters will be available to be played, including a Wildcard, 12th Man, Maximum Captain, Qualification Booster and a Mystery Booster that will be revealed ahead of the Round of 32.

  • Unlimited transfers are available both before Matchday 1 and the Round of 32 while limits are in place for the other stages.

  • Scoring is based on minutes played, goals scored/conceded, assists, cards received, own goals, winning/conceding a penalty, tackles, chances created and shots on target.

  • Additional points are on offer for goals scored from direct free-kicks and a ‘scouting bonus’ if any players score more than four points in a match and are owned by fewer than 5% of all teams.

Who are the heavy hitters? Who are the heavy hitters?

With a cavalcade of global stars set to descend on North America for the first 48-team edition of the World Cup, squeezing those heavy-hitters into a $100 million budget is going to prove a tough ask.

Given the importance of goal-scoring forwards, it’s little surprise that the budget-busting options are all more advanced players, with Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe each coming in at $10.5m.

Global icons Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are part of the next most expensive bracket, at $10m. Morocco full-back Achraf Hakimi ($6m) is the most expensive defender and a pair of Brazilian (Ederson and Alisson Becker) and Spanish (David Raya and Unai Simon) keepers are among the priciest options in goal.

England and France lead the wayEngland and France lead the way

The top six nations on the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking provide the bulk of the players expected to be among the main point plunderers in North America. No fewer than 20 of the 25 most-expensive options come from those half dozen nations, with England and France having five apiece.

Best of the rest Best of the rest

With the Confederation Challenge Leaderboard in play, which will track the best-performing Confederations based on users’ team selections, there are several stars from across the planet that could power a team to success.

The highest-priced African options are Egyptian duo Mohamed Salah ($10m) and Omar Marmoush ($7.8m) while Korea Republic’s Son Heungmin ($7.4m) and Saudi schemer Salem Al Dawsari ($7.2m) lead the way for Asia.

Canada superstar Jonathan David, Mexican sharp-shooter Raul Jimenez and USA string-puller Christian Pulisic (all $7m) are the top options for the host nations, while Chris Wood ($6.5m) is the leading light for Oceania returnees New Zealand.
